Summary

Sonya works with governments and organizations across the US to tackle some of today's most pressing issues, including climate change and racial equity. Her approach blends data and evidence with relationships, human impact, and trust. She currently co-leads DA's sustainability work.

Delivery Experience

Sonya has worked with numerous local governments, philanthropies, and non-profits to support tactical planning and implementation of climate and equity-related work.

On the American Cities Climate Challenge, Sonya worked directly with multiple cities to implement their climate-focused policies and programs and co-led the initiative to support 25 US cities alongside partners at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council).

In New York City she worked with senior leaders to set priorities and develop implementation Blueprints for childcare, gun violence prevention, mental health, school nutrition, and more.

She is currently co-leading the design of a major initiative focused on climate and racial wealth equity in cities, supporting the City of Baltimore as well as local government action in the lead-up to the 2023 international climate negotiations at COP28.

Other Experience

Prior to joining DA, Sonya was a Senior Program Manager for a development economics research program at Harvard Kennedy School, where she focused on women's economic empowerment, air quality, and social programs in India and Nepal.

At the World Resources Institute, she worked to embed core principles of environmental sustainability in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and supported organizational growth.
