Summary

Maryam has worked in Pakistan’s development sector since 2015 with various national and international organizations including United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Pakistan), and Concern Worldwide. She has worked in several areas of development such as climate change, environmental conservation, youth empowerment, and humanitarian response.

Delivery Experience

Maryam is leading the development of Pakistan's Long Term 2050 Vision (LTV) to reduce carbon emissions. This vision will later support the development of Pakistan's Long Term Low-Emissions Development Strategy (LT-LEDS), which will outline implementation pathways to reach goals set in the vision.

Other Experience

Prior to joining DA, Maryam introduced and led a Youth and Climate Change component within the Youth Empowerment Programme of UNDP Pakistan. She regularly coordinated with and supported the Ministry of Climate Change on their youth in climate action agenda. Based on her counsel, UNDP supported the Ministry in conducting a nationwide survey to determine Pakistani youths’ perceptions of climate change. The results formed the basis for introducing youth as a crosscutting theme in the revised Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) of Pakistan. Maryam also has ample experience developing and executing projects.
