Other Experience
While working at TechnoServe in Benin, Marlene saw a need for tangible financial resources to help bolster local businesses. She negotiated with local banks, built capacity among entrepreneurs, and essentially bridged the gap between the two groups. Her collaborative efforts played a key role in establishing a significant financing fund for local entrepreneurs. The fund not only provided entrepreneurs with essential resources to scale their ventures, but also set a precedent for financing smaller enterprises, something traditionally seen as high risk.
