She completed a graduate thesis at King's College London on international law and geopolitical issues in the South Caucasus and an undergraduate thesis on gender-based violence in communities in Iraq and Syria. Howlader has also done extensive volunteer work with a variety of organizations focused on sexual and domestic violence, crisis response, and community organizing.
